Care And Affection Towards Orphans

The present perception about Islam that it is a religion that suppresses women and children is wrong. Holy Quran tells us that Islam has a set of rule, rights, and duties for every human being. This also includes the rights of the orphans and the widows who were left behind in the in the Arab society at the time of advent of the last prophet (p.b.u.h). Islam is a religion that believes in the support of the orphans as they are left behind they are ill-treated by the evil elements of the society. In Islam house where an orphan is treated badly or cruelly is the worst house. Love and affection that Islam gives to an orphan is evident from the serat of Rasool Allah p.b.u.h. Hazrat Muhammad p.b.u.h said that:

"Whoever supports an orphan from among his own or any other family; he will be as close to me in Heaven as these fingers are close to each other."

Rasulullah (PBUH) made a motion of his index and middle fingers (while he said this) and there was only a little space between the two. Allah has guided in the Quran at several places of how to treat orphans. If someone treats an orphan in a bad manner he would not be permitted to enter heaven.
This does not mean that you only have the responsibility of treating the orphan from your relatives’ but also the orphans with whom they have no particular blood tie with. Thus it is the responsibility of the whole society to treat each and every Muslim to treat the orphans with care and affection.
