“World Quran Day” Can Turn to Axis of Unity among Muslims

A world Quran day could promote unity among Islamic countries, an Iranian cleric told IQNA. Seyyed Saeed Sarabi, head of department for promoting Quranic activities in Khorasan Razavi province, added that the holy Quran has always been the axis of solidarity for all Muslims. "If Muslim countries come together and agree on naming a day as the World Quran Day, it will pave the way for further proximity of Islamic countries, " Sarabi said. Referring to the fact that, at present, some Islamic countries are not willing to establish bilateral relations because of sour political issues, he underlined that cultural moves such holding international Quran competitions and Quran exhibitions can fill the gap and provide the opportunity for thawing the ice. Further in his remarks, Mr. Sarabi emphasized that at the face of growing insults by western media against the sanctities of Islam, Muslims should launch extensive cultural moves to foil such attempts, and agreeing on a specific day as the World Quran Day would be a step in this respect.

Quran Reciters from Iran Perform in Madina City

A number of Iranian Quran reciters who are in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj recited verses from the Quran Friday night at Shias' Mosque in Madia. Qasim Razeei and Shoja Zowaidat recited verses from Surah Al-Isra and Surah Al-Mumenoon. Later in the program, Zowaidat, who knows the entire holy Quran by heart and won the first title in Egypt's international Quran competition, answered the questions raised by the audience in the mosque. Concluding the program was Tawasheeh performance by an Iranian Tawasheeh group, which was warmly received by the audience in the mosque. Located just outside the city of Medina, the Shias' Mosque is a hub of Quranic and religious activities. The Iranian Quran reciters are scheduled to perform Quran recitation Monday night in supreme leader's representative office in Medina.

Quran Contest in Ottawa ,Canada

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Center in Ottawa, Canada, planed to held a Quran competition in the holy month of Ramadan, IRNA reported. The contest was held in the categories of memorization of the entire holy Quran, memorization of 10 Joz (sections) of the Quran and memorization of the 30th Joz. Preliminary rounds of the contest will be held in mosques and Islamic centers across the country, while the final round is to be hosted by the cities of Ottawa and Ontario. Winners of the final round will be awarded at the end of the competition.

Ghana Nat'l Quran Contest Slated for March

A national Quran competition is to be held next month in the African country of Ghana.According to Iran's cultural attaché office in Accra, the competition will be held on March 13-14 in the categories of memorization and recitation of the holy Quran. The annual event is organized by the Iranian cultural attaché office in Accra in cooperation with Ghana Islamic University. There is no age limits for the participants. The closing ceremony will be attended by Mohammadi Iran's ambassador to Ghana, Afsari, Iran's cultural attaché and a number of scientific and cultural figures. Muslims make up around 15 percent of the West African country of 23 million people. According to the World Muslim Youth Society website, the two students Jom’eh Beik Qorban Ali and Muhammad Esmaiel Olu Abd-ol-Manan were also given a special degree during a ceremony attended by the Kyrgyz mufti and the vice minister of Religious Affairs. The two had not been familiar with the Arabic language but managed to memorize the entire Quran due to their strong perseverance as well as their instructors’ efforts and encouragement. “The officials at the World Muslim Youth Society are doing their best to propagate and expand the Quranic culture in Kyrgyzstan, and all these efforts deserve to be praised,” the Kyrgyz mufti said in a speech at the ceremony. Professors and students of the Quran Faculty were given presents as keepsakes by the Kyrgyz mufti at the end of the function.

If it was a sin, he would be the furtherst of the people from it. And the Messenger of Allah never took revenge for himself, but if the bounds of Allah were transgressed, then he would take revenge for the sake of Allah." [Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

Superiority of Intellectual People

They said, "Be You glorified, we have no knowledge, except that which You have taught us. You are the Omniscient, Most Wise." He said, "O Adam, tell them their names." When he told them their names, He said, "Did I not tell you that I know the secrets of the heavens and the earth? I know what you declare, and what you conceal." When we said to the angels, "Fall prostrate before Adam," they fell prostrate, except Satan; he refused, was too arrogant, and a disbeliever. (2:30-33).

The importance of education and knowledge is evident from the first verse of Quran in surah e Alaq.

“Read in the name of thy Lord who created”.
