60 Countries to Participate in 25th International Owqaf Quran Competition


The cultural deputy of the Owqaf and Charity Affairs Organization said that representatives of 60 countries will participate in the 25th international Quran competition in the holy city of Mashhad. Speaking Thursday at the gathering of supreme organizing committee of international Quran competitions, Hojat-ol-Islam Hossein Ahmadiyan said that the competition has had various stages in order to be quite competitive and fair so that the most qualified rceiters and memorizers will represent Islamic Republic of Iran in the international stage. “30000 Quran activists participated in the first stage of the competition, which was held last year in Kurdistan province, 400 of whom made it to the national stage, and finally two of them were chosen to represent Iran in the international stage, he went on to say. "So far ,60 countries have announced their readiness to participate in the 25th edition of the competitions and the number is expected to increase," Hojat-ol-Islam Hossein Ahmadiyan noted. The Cultural deputy of Owqaf concluded by saying that 15 distinguished judges from Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon and Tunisia form the judging panel of the competition.
